How do i take a picture of the Stars, Sunset, and Moon if i have 3x digital camera?
I have a Pentax A20 for a camera. its a very nice camera. i want to be able to take pictures of the Moon, Sunset, and the Stars. What do i have to set my settings to, to make this happen. by settings i mean White-balance, ISO, Exposure, etc. Any help will be helpful thank you.
Stars and moon are pretty close to the same thing in your case. If you had a huge lens and could have the moon fill most of the frame that's different. Get a tripod, turn the camera on night scene mode, aim and shoot. Try this with the ISO set to 64, if it's taking the pic at the full 4 seconds, and its still dark, turn it to 100. If its still dark, turn it up again until you get what you want.
Sunsets on the other hand are a little bit harder with a point and shoot. I would say use ISO 64 again, put the camera in manual mode. Set the aperture to the maximum, f/2.8, then get the shutter speed to where the EV reads -0.7. Take a pic and see what you get. If you keep the picture a little darker the colors come out much nicer. You may have to go down to -1.0 or -1.3. Take a bunch and vary the shutter speed. If your shutter gets over 1/200 of a second, put the aperture up one setting. Ideally you want the aperture number as large as possible without your shutter being slower than 1/125 sec. Its a little more tricky and it takes some practice and patience to get what you want. It shouldn't take you more than a couple attempts to make it pretty close to what you want. Good Luck!
